This handbook provides mine awareness practitioners with practical advice on how they can improve communication in mine awareness programs. The authors argue that mine awareness managers must understand that their responsibility for communication is just as important and direct as their responsibilities for operations, finance and personnel. The paper stresses that to be successful, mine awareness programs must also be able to count on the support of governments, local leaders, communities and the mass media.
