This study aims to determine the efficiency, safety and cost-effectiveness of mine clearance equipment, based on experience in mine-affected countries. It addresses various issues, such as the purpose of humanitarian demining, clearance requirements and the component parts of the demining process. It also examines how these tasks, activities and procedures contribute to achieve the clearance requirement. The authors conclude with a set of recommendations for follow-on work.
