This report discusses the results of a pilot study designed to investigate the possibility that Remote Explosive Scent Tracing (REST) technology can be used for area reduction in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The authors explain that REST is the concept of transferring a target odor to an animal detector using a filter. The pilot study the report refers to is the result of a broadly-based program of research on mine detection animals by the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).
