This article addresses international mine action standards (IMAS). It explains for whom they are written and how they are designed. The author discusses whether IMAS slow down demining operations and explains the existence of IMAS for post-clearance sampling. The article further describes the review process of IMAS and indicates where the latest version of IMAS can be found as well as where training with IMAS can be obtained.
