This article addresses the impact of mines and unexploded ordnance used by guerrilla groups in Colombia. The article describes the broader Colombian mine action context, where parties such as the National Intersectoral Mine Action Commission and the Observatorio de Minas Antipersonal are involved. The article also refers to the role played by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in addressing the consequences of mine use and insecurity resulting from the 40-year civil war.
