This study reviews the state and development of national mine action legislation and other related norms and standards in a number of mine-affected countries. The study presents the results country-wide, focusing on background, mine action legislation, mine action structures and emerging issues. Furthermore, the paper presents a number of general conclusions and recommendations. For instance, the authors call on more countries in which mine and unexploded ordnance contamination is severe to adopt national mine action legislation.
