This article provides information on principles and results of a training program for filter-search mine detection dogs to teach them skills similar to automatic search. The training used the remote explosives scent tracing (REST) concept. The article reviews the training method used as well as the results and discusses the findings. The authors conclude that after 15 weeks, the dogs achieved 95 percent detection reliability.
