Environment, Development, and Human Security
The use and management of natural resources and environmental factors shape many conflicts and development efforts in fragile contexts. Applying a holistic and human-, rather than state-, centered notion of security, the CSS has been involved in the a Environment and Conflicts Project (ENCOP), the Environment and Conflict Management Project (ECOMAN), the Environment and Cooperation in the Nile (ENCOP) and the NCCR North South Environment and Conflict Transformation project. More recently, we have worked on the topics of environment and conflict prevention and mediating water use conflicts.
