Francesco Ignazio Re is a PhD candidate at the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich. His doctoral studies are affiliated with both the CSS and the IVIA Lab in the Computer Science Department. His research focuses on advancing artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of conflict-event forecasting, specifically aimed at supporting UN peacekeeping operations. His work benefits from and contributes to a joint research project between the ETH Center for Security Studies (CSS) and the UN Operations Crisis Centre (UNOCC).

Prior to beginning his PhD, Francesco earned a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Padova, Italy, and a Master’s degree in Data Science from ETH Zürich. Part of his undergraduate studies were completed at Boston University before starting his master's program.
