Moldovan Analytical Digest
The Moldovan Analytical Digest is a quartely internet publication jointly produced by the external page University of Fribourg/CH, external page the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen, the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich, and the external page Center for Eastern European Studies (CEES) at the University of Zurich, with financial support from the external page Elite Network of Bavaria. The Moldovan Analytical Digest analyzes the political, economic, and social situation in Moldova including the breakaway region of Transnistria within the context of international and security dimensions. All contributions to the Moldovan Analytical Digest undergo a fast-track peer review.

No. 004: EU Aspirations and Integration - Parliamentary Elections I
This fourth issue of the Moldovan Analytical Digest addresses the Moldova’s EU aspirations. The first text by Denis Cenusa compares Ukraine’s and Moldova’s modest moves towards integration in light of the EU’s securitized enlargement policy. Mariana Iatco then presents a survey-based study of electoral clientelism in the context of EU demands for transparent electoral procedures, before an interview with Valentia Caledji-Poghirc looks at the work of EU-financed projects in Gagauzia. Finally, the issue contains detailed statistics on the recent parliamentary elections held on 28 September 2025.
No. 003: Language, Ethnicity, and Political Preferences
This issue of the Moldovan Analytical Digest covers topics related to ethno-linguistic plurality and political preferences across Moldova. The first contribution delves into granular census data to argue that Moldova is less ethno-linguistically divided than is often claimed (Knott), the second discusses identity-based political grievances at a regional level (Gobbat), and the third interrogates the voting patterns of ethno- linguistic groups in the last presidential election (Slav). In addition, this issue contains key information on the political parties running in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
