CSS Evening Talk: Alternative Facts, Propaganda and Media Crisis
The information and media landscape has been changing drastically in the past few years. Traditional media like daily newspapers constantly lose ground while blogs and internet media gain importance. However, blogs and internet media often lack quality assurance. At the same time, formation of opinion is increasingly happening through propaganda of non-western actors. Democracy itself can be seen as a critical infrastructure. These matters were discussed by Sylke Tempel, Editor in Chief of the magazine “Internationale Politik”, Berlin, and Prof. Dr. Otfried Jarren, Institute of Mass Communication, University of Zurich and president of the Federal Media Commission at the Evening Talk on 14 June 2017.
