CSS Evening Talk: America after the Elections
The election of Donald Trump as 45th president of the United States US came as a surprise –- at least for many people in Europe. What were the reasons for this decision by made by the American people US voters, and what does Trump’'s election mean for in a foreign and security policy aspectscontext? These and other questions were discussed by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wilzewski, University of Kaiserslautern, and Dr. John Thompson, Team Global Security at the CSS Think Tank, at the CSS Evening Talk on 14 November 14, 2016. Both speakers agreed that the election campaign displayed revealed a deep divisions of the in American US society. Therefore, the US is expected to act more increasingly according to its own interests. Europe, as a consequence, will have to deal with many international conflicts and problems on its own.
