CSS Evening Talk: Chemical Weapons

On 23 October the CSS organized an Evening Talk on «The Future of the Chemical Weapons Control Regime, Chemical Weapons Disarmament in Syria, and the Contribution of Switzerland».

Both ambassador Benno Laggner, head of the Security Policy Section in the FDFA in Bern, and Stefan Mogl, head of the Chemistry Section at the Spiez Laboratory, commented on the use of chemical weapons in the Syrian Civil War, as well as on follow-up weapons disarmament efforts to which Switzerland has contributed. Furthermore, they discussed the challenges that could arise for future chemical and biological weapons disarmament regimes.
