CSS Briefing Note 2017 is dedicated to the recent push for reforms in UN peacekeeping. The UN is focusing on a stronger political component of its peace missions, on conflict prevention, and aims at a comprehensive approach and partnerships with other organizations – however, Member States and bureaucracy severely limit the room for reform. Increased engagement by the West or Switzerland is most likely in the form of technological enablers, civilian or specialized contributions.
