This factsheet analyses the United States National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP), which sets forth a comprehensive risk management framework and clearly defines roles and responsibilities. It particularly examines the updated version of the NIPP (NIPP 2009), which takes an all-hazards approach and emphasizes the integration of the resilience concept as well as the use of a common risk assessment approach, including the core criteria for these analyses to allow the comparison of risk across sectors. The aim is to identify lessons learned for Switzerland's sector-specific and cross-sector risk analysis in critical infrastructure protection.
